Repurchase & replenishment reminder apps for Shopify: prices compared, plus a no-monthly-fee option

Shopify can't send reorder reminders on its own, so most stores look for an app. Apps call this feature reorder reminders, replenishment reminders or repurchase reminders, but it's the same thing: an email that reaches a customer around the time they usually run out, ideally with a link that refills their cart. This guide compares what the apps cost and do with running the same reminders as an n8n workflow you pay for once, and explains which fits which kind of store.

Short answer: Reorder reminder apps with a pre-filled cart cost about $25–29 a month (checked October 2026); cheaper plans at $5–12 leave out features. They're a good fit for consumer stores that sell consumables. If you sell wholesale, or don't want another monthly fee, an n8n workflow can send the same reminders on each buyer's own reorder cycle. It's free (or $29 once for the version with the one-click cart), and it runs on your own n8n.

What a reorder reminder app does

Most replenishment apps work the same way:

  1. Pick a reminder time per product, for example 30 days after a 30-day supply was bought. Better apps learn it from how long customers usually take to reorder.
  2. Send an email (sometimes an SMS) when that day comes.
  3. Add a link that opens a cart or checkout with the same items in it, often with a discount.

For a store that sells coffee, supplements or pet food to consumers, that's exactly what's needed.

Where apps fall short for wholesale

Apps set the timing per product. A wholesale account doesn't run out of one product; it reorders a whole mix of products on its own schedule. One distributor reorders every 10 days and a small shop every 60, even when they buy the same items. A reminder based on the product's timing comes too early for one and too late for the other.

Things we couldn't find in the apps at their entry prices:

  • A cycle for each buyer from their order history, as opposed to a cycle per product
  • Skipping buyers whose last order hasn't shipped, so nobody gets a reminder while their pallet is still in the warehouse
  • A weekly due and overdue list for sales, so someone can call the biggest accounts personally
  • Shopify B2B company contacts as the people who get the reminder

The n8n alternative

n8n is an automation tool you can self-host for free or use on n8n Cloud. Our reorder reminder workflow does this once a day:

  1. Looks at each buyer's last orders and works out the median gap between them. The median ignores one-off big orders.
  2. Sets their expected reorder date: last order + median gap + grace (about a quarter of the gap).
  3. Skips buyers whose last order is still unshipped, and anyone you've marked do-not-disturb.
  4. Sends the reminder from your own mailbox. The Pro version adds a cart link with their last order already in it, after checking each product is still for sale.
  5. Sends you a daily summary. An optional Google Sheets log records every reminder. Pro adds Slack and a weekly due and overdue list.

App or n8n workflow: which one?

Reorder reminder app n8n workflow
Price about $25–29/month with a cart link Free; Pro $29 once
When the reminder is sent Per product (some learn from all customers) Per buyer, from their own order history
Pre-filled cart link Yes Pro

Setup Install and click through Import into n8n and connect Shopify and email (about 30 minutes), or have it set up for you
Where it runs The app's servers Your own n8n

Pick an app if you sell consumables to consumers, want SMS or a customer portal, and don't run n8n.

Pick the n8n workflow if you sell wholesale or B2B, your buyers order on very different cycles, or you'd rather pay once than every month.

FAQ

What's the best repurchase reminder app for Shopify? For a consumer store selling consumables, an app with a pre-filled cart link (Replenish, or Buy Again & Reorder Reminders) is the quickest start at about $25–29 a month. For wholesale buyers who each reorder on their own cycle, or to avoid the monthly fee, use a per-buyer workflow like the one above.

Is there a free reorder reminder app for Shopify? Some apps have a free plan with a monthly limit, such as Replenish with 100 reminders a month. Our free n8n workflow has no limit on reminders, but you need n8n, which is free to self-host.

What's the difference between reorder, replenishment and repurchase reminders? Nothing. They're different names for the same feature: reminding a customer to buy again around the time they usually do.

Can a reorder reminder include a one-click cart? Yes. Shopify cart permalinks (/cart/variant-id:quantity,…) open a cart with the items already in it. Both the apps and our Pro workflow use them.

Do I need Shopify Plus? No. The apps and the n8n workflow both work on any Shopify plan.

Skip the setup

The free Reorder Reminder n8n template sends reminders on each buyer's own cycle. Reorder Reminders Pro adds the one-click cart, Slack and the weekly list for $29 once. Or have it installed and adapted for your store.
